Second and third year students of the Health Management Department of our university have started to receive field education at health institutions in İstanbul (primarily in university hospitals providing services under the roof of MLP Care Group) by completing two-day orientation training.
İstinye University sends its students and faculty members to prestigious universities in Europe with Erasmus Plus Agreements of the Department of Health Management and Faculty of Health Sciences.
Every year, Istinye University students and faculty members are delighted with the elementary schools in the countryside. In this project, which was initiated by the Department of Foreign Languages with the ‘Wish Tree’ this year, our Health Management Club students supported the book donation campaign.
For the preschool and first grade students, illustrated stories, coloring, fun learning books and crayons are collected, for older classes we sent the selected works from the Turkish and World Classics recommended by the Ministry of National Education, for the elder students preparing for LGS, test and subject narration preparation books were collected and sent to these schools.

MLP Care Contracted Institutions Current Business Development Coordinator Ruhsan Gezgin and Emsey Hospital Corporate Marketing and Communication Group Manager Züleyha Abdülbakioğlu, met with our students and shared their experiences.
The guest speakers discussed the role and importance of contracted institutions and private health insurance in the hospital business development activities as well as the integrated marketing activities in health institutions and the benefits of international patient programs.
Our Health Management Department celebrated the 18th December Health Administrators Day with the conference entitled “Changing Paradigms in Health Management: Sustainability, Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence” with the participation of academicians, industry professionals and students.
Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate, Division of Medical Services Directorate attended the conference as the audience, Istinye University Chairman of the Board of Trusteeship and MLP Care Healthcare Group Chairman Muharrem Usta, M.D., Dean of Uskudar University Faculty of Medicine Professor Haydar Sur, Liv Hospital Group Coordinator Meri Istroti made presentations about artificial intelligence, digital transformation and their contribution to sustainability in hospitals.
The opening speech of the conference was given by the Vice Rector of İstinye University Professor Erdal Karaöz, PhD said that ‘Today, when new devices, new technologies are produced and transferred to the field of health, artificial intelligence and digital technologies are introduced into our lives, he underlined that we are approaching a period where many traditional applications will become history. In this context, it is up to us academicians to prepare the health manager candidates who will work in the field for this transformation.’
In her opening speech at the conference, İstinye University Head of Department of Health Management Assitant Professor Gülhan Kalmuk, PhD. said, ‘The issue of how future technologies will change the field of health management should already be discussed. As academicians, who are training young people who are ready for the wide use of artificial intelligence in health, the advantages of informatics in care and service processes will contribute to health management.
On 12-13 December 2019, Banu Bican who is Lecturer in the Istinye University Department of Health Management, attended the International Congress of Social Sciences organized by the Institute of Social Sciences of Yıldız Technical University as the chairman and made a presentation.
Lecturer Banu Bican's paper titled ‘A Content Analysis of Corporate Sustainability Reports of Private Public Healthcare Instutions in Turkey’ was also published in the full text book.
In an effective and efficient health management process, the quality of the buildings that health institutions provide services is also very important. In this context, we hosted Kenan Geyran, the founder of Geyran Architecture, with the participation of our Health Management Department and Vocational School of Healthcare Services. In the event titled ‘Basic Principles and Criteria in Hospital Architecture’, Mr. Geyran shared his experiences with our students and academicions the value of practical building solutions that are in compliance with the current hospital building construction legislation.
The 3rd grade students of our Health Management Department have seen the functioning of the leading health institutions in our sector and, in this way have reinforced their theoretical knowledge. VM Medical Park Pendik Hospital General Manager, Chief Physician and Assistant General Managers and MLP Care Group Central Management Team also shared their experiences of business management and contributed to training of our students with a practical lesson.
Our Health Management Club, where our Health Management students organized social activities, visited Semiha Şakir Elderly Rest and Nursing Home.
Our students stated that they aim to chat with the elderly and help them to have a pleasant time even for a few hours and they will strengthen their social responsibility awareness by making these visits traditional.

MLP Care Guest Services Director Ms. Tülay Aydın and Yeditepe University Hospital Patient Services Manager Ms. Özlem Bozkurt Foto shared their experiences with our students on 9 December 2019 at our Topkapı Campus.
‘Healthcare Sector Meetings’ organized by the Departments of Healthcare Management, took place on 18 November 2019 at our Topkapı Campus. The first meeting held on the theme of Total Quality Management and Philosophy in Healthcare. Private Hospitals and Health Institutions Association OHSAD Academy Coordinator Güler Çakmak Tosunoğlu and Bahçeşehir University Göztepe Medical Park Hospital Quality Manager Yasemin Aslan came together with our students and sector representatives, and shared their experiences.
They lectured on how total quality management practices entered the healthcare sector of our country and the processes of adoption by health institutions, the contribution of national and international accreditation certificates to the institutions, the introduction of total quality management practices into the Turkish healthcare sector.
On 18.10.2019, an information session was held in Bahçeşehir Liv Hospital within the scope of the cooperation visit of Hochschule Niederrhein University Health Management Department. LIV Hospital Chief Physician Mr. Orçun Okur gave information about the operations of Bahçehir Liv Hospital with his comprehensive presentation. At the information session, discussions were made on the exchange of information and the comparison of the health systems of both countries. After the meeting, the hospital was visited and on-site information was given about the practices.
At the closing meeting held on Topkapı campus after the hospital visit, a general evaluation of the visit was made and it was decided to cooperate on research projects, undergraduate and graduate level Erasmus + mobility of students and academicians, and the opening of an international graduate program providing multiple diplomas.

The Health Management Department of the University has started its new academic year with the first course on Monday, October 7, 2019. Dr. Gülhan Kalmuk- the head of the department- made her first lecture the students currently enrolled in bachelor and graduate programs of the department. Dr. Gülhan Kalmuk congratulated our students who have been entitled to enroll in the 1st year of our university for their efforts and achievements, and subsequently stated that it will add strength to the power of our university with our self-confident young people who can understand and interpret the information and related developments about health management with scientific methods and techniques, can perform scientific analysis and synthesis of this information,”

Gülhan Kalmuk's presentation titled Yeri The Place of Guest Services in Health Management kapsamında within the scope of 1st Guest Services Week Symposium; emphasized that the basic characteristics of the hospital manager, the team structure of the guest services, the duties they are responsible within the hospital, the guest service employees play a critical role in ensuring the satisfaction of the patients and their relatives at all stages from the patient's arrival to the hospital and providing quality and efficient service.
However, it was stated that all team members have mediation functions in performing their jobs effectively and also they have significant effects in reducing financial losses of the institution as they are involved in the initial acceptance phase of all financial records and paperwork. In order to fulfill all of these responsibilities, it is emphasized that guest services employees need multi-faceted education, motivation and feelings of belonging. Based on these, Dr. Kalmuk explained the features that guest services employees should carry in detail and shared his experiences with the audience.

PROJECT NAME: HIV + Virus
Our students Zelal Arslan, Seray Çiçek and Beyza Nur Gülap conducted a survey to measure public awareness about HIV + virus. They prepared the survey results in posters and hung them on the school board and aimed to raise awareness of other students about the HIV virus.
PROJECT NAME: Breast Cancer and Self Breast Examination
One of our students, Sena Çayırlı, Sevcan Canboy and İrem Erkılıç made a presentation titled Mu Breast Cancer and Self Breast Examination amacıyla in order to raise awareness about breast cancer. In their presentations, they informed their friends about the prevalence of breast cancer, risk factors and how to perform breast self-examination.
PROJECT NAME: Zero Waste Project Information Seminar
Our students Enes Akkuş, Alper Sevimli, Talha Pekel and Muhammet Talha Bilgin, in their presentations within the scope of the Zero Waste Project Information Seminar, explained the importance of waste to the economy and the ways in which it can bring to the economy and the habit of storing in accordance with the categories of waste. In addition, information was given about the steps taken by our university within the scope of the Zero Waste Project and the works planned to be performed.

Our students Bilge Ünal Health Management, İlayda Çakar, Mısra Öykü Alaz and Ceren Erol spent a day with Down Syndrome employees in Down Cafe. They ate, studied their works and chatted with them. Their beautiful day helped them to develop their awareness of Down's syndrome and change their perspectives.

In the March-April 2019 issue of dosya City Hospitals in All Aspects lend Lecturer. Member Gülhan Kalmuk made recommendations on the management of city hospitals. Kalmuk emphasized that city hospitals should be managed with a professional management approach without losing the sensitivities of the health sector, and that hospitals should establish minimum standards and guidelines to guide the standards before starting operation. He touched upon strategies to overcome the challenges that can be encountered in the career path and to maintain success. On Monday, March 11th, an information meeting was held for the first and second year students of Health Management Department about Erasmus Interuniversity Exchange Program. Lecturer. See. The Health Management Club held a seminar on Hukuk Law in Health, the legal responsibilities of the personnel working in health services ’on 20 December in Conference Hall 2.
