In 1980, the Korean economy was about two-thirds of the Turkish economy. How did the Korean economy doubled the Turkish economy in 2017 by rapily growing in the course of time? How China, that was exhausted in economic terms at the end of the 1940s, has become today's greatest economic power? How Japan, as the country experienced the deepest destructive results of the  World War II, became the second largest economy in 1968 and how is it still among today's greatest economic actors? Why has the Argentine economy, which was expected to boom in the early 1900s, got nowhere fast for a centruy? Why does Greece constantly experience economic crises?

The answers of the questions above lie in the sentence that was said by our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in I. Izmir Economic Congress: "Political and military victories, no matter how great they are, can not be sustained without economic victories." Within this context, in the global economy where competitiveness has increased and which stepped into the era of artificial intelligence, it is ever more necessary to gain great economic victories . Because, economic successes and failures are the most important factors determining the welfare and the stability of nations.

A strong economic environment will be the main mean that will lead us to our national goals and enable us to gain great economic victories. Well-educated economists who will develop and implement accurate economic policies is needed more than ever  to establish this environment.

The accuracy of these policies can be achieved by developing artificial intelligence based approaches with a strong theoretical economic background and having a researcher spirit. With this awareness, as Istinye University Economics Department, we aim to contribute to the bright economic future of our country by raising questioning, solution-oriented and broad-visioned economists who are equipped with a strong theoretical knowledge and who have a comprehensive knowledge of information technologies and artificial intelligence.
