The panel on the “New Moves in Syria” organized by the International Relations Department and International Relations Club of İstinye University was held on 22.03.2019. The panelists were, Mete YARAR, an expert on security policies, Ardan ZENTÜRK, author, and two distinguished scholars from İstinye University, Prof. Mesut Hakkı CAŞIN, and Assoc. Dr. Fahri ERENEL. The participants discussed the recent issues in Manbij, the impact of the counterterrorism operation initiated by Turkey and Iran after the withdrawal of U.S. troops on the regional dynamics. Additionally, the relative stability in Idlib and Afrin and the constitutional process toward normalization in Syria were the topics examined by the panelists. Prof. Mesut Hakkı CAŞIN underlined the fact that Turkey will never allow a safe zone for terrorists to be formed right on the other side of its borders in his closure speech.
