2025 ISU Women in the Workforce Workshop Held with a Focus on the Health and Tourism Sectors

Organized in collaboration with the Department of Economics and the Economic Policy Research Center (EPAM), the 2025 ISU Women in the Workforce Workshop took place on May 13, 2025, at the Vadi H Campus Conference Hall. The event was part of the 21st Century Competencies Manifest 2 within the scope of the Career Journey course.

The workshop addressed the role of women in Turkey’s economy through an interdisciplinary lens, with a particular focus on female employment in the health and tourism sectors.

The program began with a welcome speech from the university administration, followed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayfer Ustabaş, Director of EPAM, who shared current statistics and policy insights on women in the workforce. Representing ÖĞREM, Elif Vardar Solak discussed strategies for enhancing female employment.

Notable sectoral representatives also contributed to the workshop. Op. Dr. Dilek Uslu discussed opportunities and challenges for women in the medical field, and Aylin Kopan Özsavaş offered insights into the development and career prospects of women in the tourism sector.

With a wide range of participants from students to academics and industry professionals, the workshop provided a multidimensional perspective on the future of women in the workforce.

One of the highlights of the event was the active involvement of students. Şevval Yağcı presented brand analyses from a gender equality perspective, while Semanur Yücel delivered a compelling presentation on the economic transformation of Turkey and women’s role within it.
